General / About MotoBuyers
MotoBuyers is a licensed and bonded motorcycle dealer that specializes in helping riders sell their bikes quickly and fairly. Our process is designed to be simple and hassle-free: you tell us about your motorcycle, we provide a market-based offer, and we handle all the paperwork so you can get paid without stress. Whether your bike is new, old, running, or in need of repairs, we make the selling experience smooth and transparent.
We exist to make selling your motorcycle easier and more reliable than doing it on your own. When you sell privately, you may face low offers, no-shows, and lots of paperwork. At MotoBuyers, you'll get a fair, data-backed offer, fast payment, and peace of mind knowing the sale is handled by a licensed dealer. We've purchased thousands of motorcycles over the last decade, so you can trust that you're in experienced hands.
Yes. MotoBuyers is a fully licensed, bonded, and insured California motorcycle dealer (Dealer #85702). This means we follow strict state requirements that protect sellers, including the use of dealer bonds, regulated paperwork, and insurance coverage. Unlike unlicensed buyers, you can be confident that your sale with us is legitimate, safe, and recognized by the DMV.
Right now, we are only purchasing two-wheeled vehicles, such as motorcycles and certain scooters. We do not currently buy ATVs or side-by-sides, though this may change in the future.
In most cases, yes. We buy motorcycles in a wide range of conditions, including bikes that are running, non-running, damaged, or in need of repairs. Our offers take the bike's actual condition into account, so even if it isn't perfect, we can usually make you an offer.
Yes, we regularly purchase custom and modified motorcycles, and we're not afraid of them. Unique builds and modifications are welcome, and providing additional photos or videos can help us give you the most accurate appraisal possible.
Our primary regions are San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Inland Empire. If you're outside these areas, you can still submit your motorcycle for an appraisal. We'll review your submission and let you know what options are available for completing the sale.
The appraisal process can be started online, but the final sale must be completed in person. You'll need to bring the motorcycle and necessary documents so we can verify details, complete paperwork, and finalize payment. In some cases, we may be able to arrange pickup, depending on location and circumstances, but this is not guaranteed.
Getting an Offer
It's simple. Just fill out our quick online form with your motorcycle's basic details, year, make, model, mileage, and a few photos. Once submitted, our professional appraisers review your information and send you a written offer. There's no obligation to sell, and we'll clearly outline the next steps if you choose to move forward.
No cost at all. Getting an offer from MotoBuyers is completely complimentary, no pressure, no fees, no commitment, and no obligation. Our free appraisal service is also available to other licensed vehicle dealers, wholesalers, and brokers who are interested in selling their inventory.
The more complete and accurate your submission is, the more accurate your offer will be. Clear details, accurate mileage, condition notes, and quality photos help our appraisers understand your motorcycle and provide the best possible quote.
Typically within 24 hours on business days. Submissions received after hours or over the weekend will be reviewed in the order they're received once business resumes. If we need additional information or photos, we'll reach out right away to keep the process moving quickly.
Several key elements influence your offer, including the motorcycle's condition, mileage, year, make, and model, as well as current market demand. We also consider what it may take to bring the bike back to a safe and saleable operating condition. Every quote is data-driven and designed to reflect real market value.
The in-person visit is a verification step, not a renegotiation tactic. We simply confirm that the motorcycle matches the details provided. When everything lines up, we finalize payment at the quoted price. If there are undisclosed issues or significant differences, we'll adjust the offer accordingly and clearly explain why.
No problem, there's no obligation to accept. If something doesn't feel right, share your concerns with us. We'll review the market comparables, explain how we arrived at the number, and see if any updated information changes the offer. You're free to walk away at any time.
We welcome competing written offers from licensed buyers. If the terms and conditions are comparable, we'll evaluate them apples-to-apples and do our best to match or beat the offer when possible. Our goal is to make sure you're getting a fair deal backed by a trusted, licensed buyer.
Each offer is valid for seven (7) days. Because motorcycle market values can shift quickly, we time-stamp every appraisal to ensure accuracy and fairness. If you need more time, just let us know, we may be able to extend it.
No problem. Simply reach out to your appraiser and we'll refresh the appraisal for you. There's no need to start over, just confirm any changes in mileage or condition, and we'll provide an updated written offer based on the current market.
Appointments / Inspections
Appointments are recommended so we can give your motorcycle the proper attention and have payment ready on the spot. Booking ahead also allows us to prepare your paperwork in advance for a smooth and efficient visit.
The appointment is straightforward. Our appraiser will inspect your motorcycle, confirm its condition, and ensure all documents are in order. When everything matches your quote, we finalize the deal and you get paid right then and there.
Most appointments take about 60 minutes from start to finish. If you have a loan or special title circumstances, it may take a little longer while we process the paperwork.
In some cases, yes. While most transactions are completed at our location, we may be able to arrange pickup depending on your location, schedule, and the motorcycle's condition. Ask your appraiser for availability.

Paperwork & Requirements
To complete the sale, please bring: a valid driver's license or ID; the title, or lender information if there's an active loan; current registration, which is optional but helpful; and any service history or receipts you'd like considered in your valuation.
Not always. Although having the title in hand allows for the fastest turnaround, we have many options for sellers without one, whether it's lost or currently held by a bank. Your appraiser will walk you through the appropriate steps based on your situation.
Don't worry, it happens more often than you think. In most cases for vehicles titled in California, we can complete a same-day sale even without the title. Reach out to your appraiser for guidance on the next steps and what documents you'll need.
Yes, we do. However, our offer will reflect the title status along with the motorcycle's condition and current market value. We handle salvage title transfers regularly and will ensure all DMV requirements are met.
No problem at all. We purchase bikes with active loans almost daily. We'll verify the payoff amount with your lender, pay them directly, and issue you any remaining balance, or collect any negative equity if the loan exceeds the value of the motorcycle.
That's okay. We can assist you with obtaining a current payoff quote from your lender. You don't need the exact number to get your bike appraised, just provide your lender's name, and we'll help you with the rest.
Yes. We take care of the DMV process from start to finish. You simply sign the necessary forms, and we'll process the title transfer, report of sale, release of liability, and all required documentation to transfer ownership properly.
Yes, as long as you're properly authorized. The registered owner must be present, or you'll need a valid Power of Attorney to act on their behalf. Our team will verify documentation before completing the sale.
Yes, we honor properly notarized Power of Attorney documents. Just bring a copy to your appointment for verification, and we'll ensure everything is processed correctly under the authorized signer.

MotoBuyers issues payments via business check, which can be deposited immediately into your bank account. For safety, compliance, and recordkeeping, we do not offer cash payments.
Yes. We handle the entire loan payoff process. MotoBuyers will verify your payoff balance with the lender, pay them directly, and issue you any remaining balance, or collect any negative equity, at closing.

Absolutely. Same-day payment is our standard. As soon as your motorcycle and documents are verified, we issue a business check before you leave your appointment.
After the Sale
Depending on its condition and market demand, your motorcycle will either be wholesaled to one of our dealer partners or placed for auction. Once the sale is complete, MotoBuyers assumes full ownership and responsibility for the unit.
No. Once we submit the title transfer and release of liability, the DMV updates its records to show MotoBuyers as the new owner. Any future registration or correspondence will go to us, not you. This officially transfers responsibility and stops future DMV notices from being sent to you.
No, we handle that for you. MotoBuyers completes the release of liability and title transfer directly with the DMV as part of every sale. You won't need to take any additional steps.
